I found this site several weeks ago and I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed reading the post here. I have learned a great deal in short period of time and hopefully can contribute some in the future. I'm only an amateur, but I love taking pictures and I thinking about trying to earn a little something from the hobby.
One thing I've learned is that the passion among the 70-200 L IS f/2.8 and the 70-200 L IS f/4 crowd is serious. And for the record after reading the many post on the subject, I went the f/2.8 L IS route.
Thanks to all who post here and the folks who run the site for the wealth of information......

Welcome to POTN...this is a great group...plenty of talented shooters and tons of quality help can be found here. What part of our fair state do you call home?

Welcome to the forum. And I am surprised. You really found a couple of passionate posters? I never noticed that about this forum. ;)

Sarcasm, isn't that a little band out of New York? Why would he be talking about a rock band in a photo-forum? Or are you talking about those pics in the travel and landscape forum of the chasm on the south or Arkansas? Don’t they call that the S.Ar.casm?:)

Thanks for the welcomes..... I travel a lot (thus the avatar) and I already know I will be spending a couple of hours every night reading and learning. The wealth of information is simply quite stunning and I'm already hooked.
As for staying away from the lens forum, I'm already in trouble. Not sure how I'm going to explain that new lens to my wife when she sees it. She has already seen me talking with every photographer I've seen with one of those big red ring white lens and has already warned me not to get it. Too late as the tracking info shows it will be here tomorrow.
Seriously the folks who post here should be very proud of the community that has been created. I'm an active member of a frequent flyer board that is considered the best in its area, but the information here has blown me away. I just hope to be able to give back at some point.
Thanks again

Oh how very wrong you are. It will start off with only a couple of hours per night but soon you will become another POTN addict. You will rush to sign on every morning and peruse the forums while you drink your coffee. If you are lucky, you have internet access at work and can sign on as soon as you arrive. If not, then you will run straight to the computer to sign on as soon as you get home and will stay on POTN until you can no longer hold your eyes open. You will then go to bed and have nightmares about dust on your sensor or perhaps visions of new lenses will dance through your head, only to awake the next morning to start all over again. All the while your camera will be gathering dust in the corner.
Just kidding. Sort of. Welcome to POTN. It is too late to turn back now.

Welcome! As you know- the site is addictive just like photography. Beware, there are no rehab clinics to help you if you ever want to get out.

Yea, we call that hijacking over on flyertalk....... But that is what makes forums like this fun and you get a feel for peoples personalities as well. I tend to be joker and prankster too so it looks like I might just fit right in.
Sick and in bed today, but I passed the time reading every post on the new MKIII. Any body wanna buy a slightly used 30D? As far as being hooked, I am already.
Good thing my wife had a ballgame tonight up in the mountains. Gave me a chance to lay in bed a play with the new lens that showed up today. All I can say is what a lens (it's the 70-200L 2.8 IS). Not sure how I'm going to explain a new lens and a new body...... One thing at time I guess. :)

My wife is up your way tonight at TC Roberson with our girls BB team. If you hear the score, let me know.
