I'm just seeking some advice from more experienced wedding photographers out there. I'm trying to decide to spend my money on a 70-200 2.8 lense or a 10-20? which you do you think i would use more?

my current lense is a 24-70 2.8 which is a great range...and i have a 50mm

please advise

thanks!!

Unless most of your weddings will on small yachts, I would go with the 70-200. If you are using a cropped body, you may find that you'd like to get a bit wider at times, but in my experience I need to get longer than 70mm more often.

Both ;)

I couldn't live without the long or the wide (but especially the long). I just don't like the mid range for some reason

my pick would be long too, and then wide soon after.

go long. i find that i use my wide only for setup shots or for large group formals. i use my 70-200 a LOT!

I would suggest both too like coreypolis, especially if you have a crop body. The long side is very practical for those up-close and personal shots throughout the wedding day. On the other hand, if you have a crop body, 24mm is not quite as wide as I like and may end up be more limiting than missing on the long end (you can always zoom with your feet for that one - not very practical, but if your budget is quite tight...).

If you have a FF body, then I agree with Lloyd and Jessiper about going for the long lens, then a UWA.

10-20 : too much distortion to be useful except when absolutely necessary.
70-200 : great opportunity for getting candids staying out of the way

After JUST getting this glass I am happy to read this. I re-inforces i made the right decision. I love this lens but wondered if it was to long for weddings.
