These guys opened for Chuck Berry and they worked hard to live up to their claim of #1 party band in America. Tons of energy & talent. C&C appreciated.

hell yea! these are some of coolest i've seen on this board. i guess that has a little to do with me being a sucker for soul, but you have some very fine captures here. nicely framed, and sharp. i think you have told the story.
i noticed you shot with a relatively small aperture. it seems to work for you, but what happens if you back off a stop or two and bump up the shutter?
also, and it may just be my screen, but the color seems just a tad flat.
but very nice job; thanks for sharing. it's always nice to have a great opening act, will you post the chuck next?

Lookin' Good Basil,
Lots of stage action and energy...
Great set of the show...
The band is wearing some "real sharp threads" too...

There's a couple more in the gallery here (http://photos.1branson.com/v/Branson2007/Branson-Shows-2007/Otis-Day-Knights/). I hope to be adding a few more as I get time.

Thanks. Yeah I had some real nice shots missed because I wasn't paying attention to exposure (hot spot light) like I should have. Plenty of light, I could have (should have) bumped the shutter speed, probably a full stop (maybe more) in some shots.
And yeah, Chuck's next. Another case where I could have gone faster with the shutter, but that spot light didn't seem as hot during his set. But I'll talk more about those when I post them.

They were so energetic, it was hard to snap a frame and not capture some of it. :D I was very impressed with them. They just looked like they were having fun and it extended out into the audience. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks, Rene. I had 2 different "poses" for 7, the one where he's singing and the one where he's holding the mic out for the audience to sing.

I empathize ... almost everyone I shoot is kinda long in the tooth! They look like fun. It's too bad the opening acts always get short shrift on the production values. Nice timing on the captures.

I don't normally like to post too many "similar" shots. I had a tough time deciding which I liked the best of the 3. Here's the other 2:

i think you were right to post #7, but honestly all of them are stellar.

On #9 the 'body language' is better, on #7 the expression in the face is way more intense... Tough choice. I think 7, or maybe 9, no, 7...
Or maybe? ;)

I think number 8 sums up a really good time had by all, great stuff.

Not so easy is it? :D:D
This was their final number, Shout!. Everybody was out of their seats and I felt like I had every one of them breathing down my neck. Got my shots and got out of the way... :Da
Thanks all for the nice comments. Hope to get the Chuck Berry part of the show up in the next day or 2.
