Any thoughts when MarkIIN price drop?

If previous trends are any indication, don't expect much more than a $500 price drop for at least a year. This is speculation, of course, but these cameras tend to hold their value a long time. Even the used ones seem to sell for higher than they should.

its selling for 3400 now, they new one will be at 3999 till atleast christmas, so I don't think there will be a drop. Used is teh way to go, plenty of people dumping perfect ones to upgrade, they are already under 3000 before the 1d3 announcement, and original 1d2's are under 2300.

The 1D3 is a great camera for... me as it finally allows me to be able to afford the 1D2 hahahaha.

I hope the price drop was like how the 20D was. Went from $1400 to $800 in no time.

The used price of 1D2n would not go down the way like 20/30D, there isn't that many sold to the mass like the 20/30D. However I do remember Dell had a double 15% off on the 1D2n just before last X'mas, making it new for $2890.... There may be a possibility of $500 rebate too.... I am hoping... LOL

My bet is for a quick price drop and then the Mk II is gone. Canon has known for a while that the new camera was coming. Just as the 580EX II is coming. Supply for both should be dwindling.

One of the releases said April. (I'm not betting on it though...but maybe B&H will take pre-orders like they did on the new lenses last fall...)


The prices on the MKIIN's will probably not drop any more...they'll just sell out. However the used ones will drop in price I'm sure, since right now they are going for close to new pricing...

In switerland, the price of the MKIIN drop to 2000€ in an on-line shop; but it's too late now :mad: there is no others in stock, snif, snif.
