Hello, I'm really new at this and i would enjoy any pointers you could pass on. Or just say you like it, or you don't.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Roninspawn,
Newbie or not that is a very impressive image of the waterfall. Well done. I like the slight blur from a relatively slow shutter speed.
The only change I would like to see is in the foreground.
That rock or block looks artificial. I'd have chosen a more natural vantage point to avoid it. A water foreground would be nice, maybe with the pool where the waterfall reaches the bottom.
Then maybe a little less sky. That blue is very intense and detracts somewhat from the main subject.
One final point and this applies to most outdoor photos.
The image is rather on the blue side ie High Color Temperature. One gets this problem when shooting in the middle of the day usually.
If you are picnicking there, take the shot later.
Otherwise use an 81c filter to lower the color temp.
You can also warm up the pic in the computer program.
Nice going. You should be smiling.
You are on your way.

I have shot a few portraits at that very spot, with the subject posed on the rock in question. Its nice to see some local (hamilton area) images on the board.

eland,
thanks for your reply, and I am smiling(now), my order for my LensMate and UV filter is in the mail as I type. The use of filters might confuse me this soon, but I'll get there.
Thanks
(the time of day?!? should of thought of that :-@ )
Murf,
Nice to know I'm not the lone Ham person here, I might see you there some time. Go LEAFS

Hi again,
Thanks for your reply.
Pity you can't change your order for a UV filter.
Whatever you have heard, a UV does nothing to lower color temperature. It is basically protection for your lens. Nothing more.
The 81 Series definitely lowers the color temperature. These lenses are a sort of orange color. They are darker as the letter gets away from A. ie B is darker and C is darker and more effective still.
I use an 81C on the lens all the time.
Very useful especially for these blue pics.
Lens mate ? What is that ?

My order for the Lensmate and UV filter are for the protection reason, gave my G2 a little bump on the 2nd day I had it, it didn't focus proper till I turned it off then on again. That night I wanted something so that would not happen again, The Lensmate came up in just about every site that I went to.

Thank you for the url.
I now know what a LensMate is.
Looks like a good idea. Better than bumping your lovely G2.
Doesn't look like they make one for my Pro90.
Thanks again

RON
You shots fill me head with joy -- not sorrow.
I especially liked the rainbowed view...and I hope to see what you are able to create when the leaves are out in bloom.
