Manfrotto/Bogen 303 Panoramic Head

Does anyone know if the above pano head is compatible with the 1D MKII ?
I know some pano heads are not but I'm unsure about this one.

Plus any advice/recommendations for a pano head suitable for a 1 series camera would be great.

Maybe I'm naive; but why woulnd't it work in a 1D series?

It doesn't have the 'arms' like the nodal ninja and panosaurus do, so it can't be weight. The nodal point adjustment would be dependent on the lens used... is it because of the 'height' with the grip being part of the frame?

Again; I don't own a FF camera or a grip for my 1.6 crop bodies.. Maybe I'm missing something obvious.

You're not missing anything obvious, Tom.
I know some pano heads are not compatible with the 1 series or a camera with a grip attached.

Before I shell out the guts of £300 I won't to make sure it's compatable with my camera.
I've mailed Manfrotto but haven't received an answer.....yet.

The reply from Manfrotto wich didn't really help much, unless I take a hack saw to the camera.

Thanks for your e mail regarding the use of your EOS1D MK11 on a Manfrotto 303 pan head.

There are 3 models in the range, the 303 and 303PLUS both have a 5kg weight capacity and the 303SPH is able to support 4kg.

My only advice from experience of people using these would be to keep the weight of the camera to a minimum, so for example remove any battery booster packs or winders. The less weight there is on the unit the less stress it will cause.
