Let's all meet on some Sunday and go shooting around Chi town.
After much deliberation and many (8) votes:)
Sunday, April 22nd was picked for the Chicago get together, with a pre meet Saturday night for those who can make it: If weather is just horrible we can use the 29th as an alternate rain date.

I'm game!
Just let me know when (April 15th) and where, of course Grant pk is a good meeting spot.
May might even be a better time, more colorful down there!

I put a vote in for the 29th but actually the 22nd or May 6th might work better for me. Do you think it will be warm (or sunny) enough in April? Of course "sunny" is always a crapshoot.

The 8th is Easter, so I'm guessing many have family plans that day.
Thanks for getting this going, Drew.
For those that can't make it on whatever date is decided, we'll try for another invasion of the Bristol Renaissance Faire later in the summer. Stay tuned!

This is interesting, but April is a bad month for me. We're expecting sometime that month.

Saturday night: anyone around meet for drinks and some night time shooting (Thanks for the idea Jeff). Get some skylines, if its clear some shots from the Hancock or Sears observatories etc ....
Sunday: Meet up at the "Bean" shoot around Millennium Park. Then head to Navy pier for there we still need to figure-out.

no...it's our last :)
Know the feeling. I've got three and the youngest goes into high school next year. The first is usually late and the last is usually early to be delivered. :D
Just hope for a really good thunderstorms. Delivery nurses I know say they get very busy when ever there's lots of rumbling thunderstorms.;)

Isnt it amazing, all these people posting about a Chicago get-together... yet only six people voted for a date! I voted for April 22, but what ever day it is I will try to make it. However our Baseball season opens April 28... so I hope we can get together before then...

OK. Phil Light voted 29th but said the 22nd was probably a better date. That makes the 22nd the clear winner. I say we go with that day and start planning. As we lock details of the meet down I'll add them to my first post.

Now where and when do we meet: Millinium Park, Grant Park, Navy Pier or Adler Planatarium. I'm leaning towards the Bean or Navy Pier 9 am?

What's "the Bean"?

"The Bean" is the nickname for a large metalic sculpture in Millinium Park that is actually named "Cloud Gate".

Drew, may I suggest you start a new thread, with the date in the title?
Then we should all help promote it by advertising in our Signature lines (see below).

Curtis, I think we missed February 22.In my defense, I have dealt with a hard drive crash and a corrupted CF card, all within less than a week, so my brain is pretty much fried.

Quite true...Am actually looking forward to the move if it's needed. Yeah my family and most of my friends are here, but I have a few friends down state and the cost of living is better (read: I can afford more glass :) ) and a nice change of scenery.

I have relatives down there and been camping in Giant City state park a couple of times. It's a nice place with some good hiking trails.

Well it looks like I'll be moving to Carbondale mid May. I'm hoping to be able to make it for the gathering though.
Do your relatives have any suggestions on a prtment hunting in the area? Places to stay away from? Where to find listings? Been looking online and most places I'm finding seem to be geared towards students.

I'll ask for you, yeah most everything in that area is geared for students with the college right there.
