i just brought a powershot g7 to replace my g3, and in comparison, the g7 images look underexposed (& bluer) - especially images shot against the sky (buildings etc..).
to me the g3 gave pretty much near perfect exposures but the g7 metering seems to produce much darker images. is this purely because of the different sensor or does it use different metering than the g3?

what shooting modes are you using on G3 and G7? do you have any special 'white balance' settings applied? I have not got both camera to make comparisons... maybe post some test images?

If you are shooting with the bright sky in background try spot metering the subject. Good to use the live histogram also. I use centre focus point and recompose.
Plenty of options to try with the great G7.
No film to waste so click away and experiment.

hi, yeah i'm definitely shooting against a bright background & usually from a low vantage point. i will give spot metering a go (as well as centre focus point).

thx for your advice!

hi, i pretty much always shoot in aperture priority. white balance is usually set to daylight.
