I went to a picnic with family today, and I took these pics late in the day just before we packed everything away. Both the wasp and fly were having a go at our leftover bbq'd sausages. Taken with the Sigma 150mm handheld with the standard built-in flash.

Well done Dale. Are these cropped pictures? If not, the you got very close.

Very good. Especially like #1. :D

Thanks all for the comments.

Renboy: It's a very nice lens, but I'm still learning this macro caper. It's a very different skill level to the bird pics I usually take with my other lenses.

Olli: Both pics are 50% crops. Each time I tried to get in close they would fly away so I had to be content with the distance I got them at (about 30-40cm)

Looks like the fly has two parasites on its head. Good sharp shots but on board flash is a touch harsh.

Yeah, a proper flash is next on my list of purchases (maybe even a ring flash as well).

I was wondering what those red things might have been. Parasites would make sense.
