Here's the finished product....the proof box and outer box both have a silver label with my business name on it. The inner proof box is leather and has a magnetic closure. I lined it with a piece of white tissue paper cut to fit, and the tissue paper is sealed with the same silver label. I'm delivering it to the bride tomorrow morning!

Nice..where do you get your boxes at and how many proofs do they hold? are those I assume 4x6's? Thanks

I ordered it from Perfection Distributing, and I'm going to continue using them. The link is below - they are $14.85 each, and will hold 200 4x6's. There's also no minimum to order, which was a plus for me.

looks like a nice way to present the proofs, but the sticker on the front is killing it for me. if you can't get them embossed, maybe a black sticker with white or silver or gold letters?

I'll try a black label next time with silver lettering and see how it goes ... I even thought about signing my name in silver pen in the bottom corner but didn't know if it would look professional or not ...

I think signing it in silver would look awesome...maybe more artistic than professional, but a good idea!

You know, I really really like it...the ribbon the whole thing...I like the signature..but mine really really sucks...I type more then I write anymore...ooooo...

I liked the label...but not totally sure...the signature would be more creative..

I guess I will sit here and try to come up with a creative signature line...

thanks so much for sharing..

Ok, I checked it out and ordered two..but I did the imprinting..which is almost 10 bucks a box, but wanted to check it out...I also have a freind who is an artist and I bet she could draw on the boxes for me...I will ask..

What are they made of?

I really like it a lot but...the sticker has got to go. I like the signing it with a silver pen idea. If it were me though I wouldn't put anything on it and come up with another way to attach your business name to it if you really want to do that. Maybe put a sticker on the underside of the lid? Like in the pic where it's laying open your business name would be right there looking at them. Just a thought. Overall love the presentation though.:)

Okay, the sticker is now gone (peeled off easily)......I am going to try a very small signature with a silver fine point paint pen. I want my name on it somewhere. :)

Rakefet - the box itself is leather.

I love boxes!! This one is really nice. Thanks for sharing your source. I too agree that signing with silver will look much better. But anyway you present it, as long as the pictures are in the box, the B&G are going to love this!!

Hi Amanda - you've given me something new to think about  .

As you know from my previous comments I've always been in favor of presenting my work displayed in proof books, in spite of the time it takes to load them. But I want to compliment you on the beautiful job you've done of assembling a very nice proof box with some attractive personal touches.

Likely I'll continue to buy proof books, but I can see doing some smaller jobs where the box concept would be perfect and I may steal your idea :D . As Lisa and others have said, you want to use either an embossed "Studio Signature/Logo" on the box, or have a caligrapher add your name.

I get all my materials from Albums Inc. here in Cleveland, and I had them make up a studio dye for me several years ago that they keep on file. It cost around $20-30 to make the dye, but then every time I have an album printed now the cost is only $2.00 per imprint, in gold or silver foil. It adds a very nice personal touch. I also have my photo folios imprinted with my studio name for a small cost. It all becomes part of your unified "Brand." - Stu

I ordered impritingon mine...each one was different...it did cost 9,90 more..but i bet it will look very professional..we will see...

I was discussing with another close photog friend, about the proof boxes,,,and steering away from the albums...You know we were raised on albums..so this is a "new" idea for most of us and old habits are hard to break and even harder to introduce. I am going ot give it a shot...

thanks for sharing..

The bride did love it - she said that no other photographer she had met with offered anything like this - which made me happy!

Isn't that gratifying when you get nice comments like that? Positive feedback is always invigorating - makes you want to run right out a and shoot a bunch of weddings ;) .
