Hi, I am taking some engagement photo's for my cousin tomorrow and I have never taken any before. Its going to be about 4 in the afternoon at a park/botanical garden. Anybody have any advice? I really would like to give them a few good shots!

I'm open to hear the advice others have as well. From what I've read and see so far you want to give them so distance and shoot them naturally interacting with each other (70-200mm) then get some casual shots of them embracing each other (50mm). Just my 2 cents

Have fun, be creative... you have all the time in the world with engagement photo sessions.

Encourage the couple to be themselves and capture the love and magic in the air (ok, enough Walt Disney Romance mumbo jumbo :D).

Exploit your surroundings. Use what is available to create unique shots. Most importantly, use your imagination!

I just did some shots for my brother. I agree creativety goes a long way. Ask them to tell you about the day they met or about their courtship, this will get them in the mood. Then just snap away. Do some posed and take some shots of them just talking. Here are few of mine.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for everyone's advice. The pictures have been rescheduled for next Sunday afternoon, weather permitting. By the way, I do have a 70-200 lens so that sounds good to me. In the last post, I like the pose and that you blurred the background.
