Hi everyone!
Today I bought my first digital Camera! After collecting lots of information about the wide selection on the market I decided on purchasing the Canon Powershot G2. I hope the decision was wise :-)! ....I was a bit under pressure because I wanted to have one so badly!
My problem now is that the camera is still being charged and I can't wait to do the first experiments! To make the waiting bearable I started to surf on the internet to find lots of information about my new baby and so I came across this site and thought about posting a message here! This site will become a constant companion for me! I was always devoted to photography, but now I want it to be one of my main focus. I want to learn and broaden my visibility and capture the beautiful things in life!
I'm thankful for every help I can get! Don't know how personal this site is, but I'm Dennis from Switzerland, 30yo!
Hope to hear from you and hope that I can soon use my new camera!
Best regards,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,
You couldn't have chosen a better forum to join! Pekka (who has set this all up) is incredibly generous with his knowledge and time. And it seems everyone else here have taken a page out of Pekka's book and are helpful and nice, particularly to newbies.
Enjoy your camera! And when you get a photo you want to share, let us see it.

Been there done that! I think all of us remember the day 1 of the digital experience.

At least you're not watching the charger light blink are you? :)
I remember when I got my own apartment (I was 18 I think), and I did not have a washing machine (used the bathtub!). After couple of years the day came when I could (and had to) afford my first own washing machine, and when the first bag of laudry was there I just sat next to it and stared and listened it whirr in awe :) That was years ago and I still remember that moment. BTW, I got the same warm feeling inside with D30, and the day I got my Genelec loudspeakers ;)

I think with that attitude you'll have a great experiences with photography. One of the biggest thing in this hobby is that it opens your eyes to see the world in different light. And with digital you can really try thing out.

Some are using aliases, but I'm not: nice to meet you, Dennis! I'm -64 vintage big bearded musician from Finland, who happen to love photography, internet, talking to people from all over the world. That's why I run this site.
Hope to hear from you and hope that I can soon use my new camera!
Let's hear the first impressions, then - ok?
