I took these today at Goodwood, it was my first attempt at a track even since getting my 400D, still need a bit more practice, but these ones came out the best.

yea, all taken with the Tamron, was a very grey and dull day today so had to shoot at ISO 400, but the Porsche sounded awesome, but as did the Supra, both were stupidly quick down the straight.

Jamie, what event was it at Goodwood yesterday (Sunday)? Their online diary said SEAT for sat and Sun but this looks like a test day/track day. Did you stay on the straight all day? It's well worth the walk to St. Mary's for some different angles.
Good shots, check out my Goodwood shots with the same lens here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/agentl/sets/72057594086483166/), I have an old 300D though.

I live pretty close to Goodwood myself. What's the drill with these test days, track days etc. ? Can anyone just turn up and take pics? Do you need to be a member, or pay for entry?
Thanks

Man that GT3 is beautiful. There is just something about that 911 body shape -- so sexy.
Great shots!

the 1st Porker is the pick of the bunch. the last one is 2nd, shame the barrier came into play.
I see you are using Av (Aperture Priority) for most of your shots.
dump that mode and use Tv mode(Shutter Priority) and start off at about 1/200s for side on pans (although your GT3RS pan is spot on at 1/160s though!) and 1/320s for head on shots and 3/4 pans. once you have mastered catching the cars at that sort of angle vs shutter speed the adjust your shutter accordingly to control motion. maybe kick off at ISO200 if it's dark but on a bright day ISO100 will be fine!
also if you aren't using AI Servo mode then switch to that, all the time you have your finger pressed halfway down the camera will track the subject and adjust the focus and keep it all sweet.

Almost all of their days are just public access for free. Check their online diary and go along when you fancy it. Just not the Revival meeting obviuosly!
The only problem I had was when I turned up on a day billed as Honda and they were filming promo material for the new CTR and Jenson Button was there. I soon got thrown out but not before I snapped 2 shots of the CTR on track and got a shot of me and Jenson together :) All on my flickr if you want to see them.

Well worth it, panning is prob best on the main straight or just after the first corner (as the sun will be behind you for a lot of the day there).
Go here (http://www.goodwood.co.uk/circuithire/) then click LATEST NEWS then Motor Circuit Diary to get the latest up do date diary. Classic Alfa may be worth a look on the 17th March. Most of the days on the diary should have decent amounts of track activity though.
Have fun and remember to show us what you come up with.
Oh yeah, the marshalls will be much happier if you stay on the outside of the track and (obviously) outside the fencing too.

Hey Mr Meady, how goes it?
Goodwood is a good circuit as they dont charge you anything to get in and watch, can go where you like and take pics.
Thanks for all the advice, ill take it onboard and give it all a go next time im there.
