View Full Version : HELP NEEDED: my 580ex, mounted on my 5d, can't get ETTL?

A friend and I noticed tonight that when on my 5D, my 580 shows as TTL. I can't seem to change the setting to ETTL--in any mode, including program and full auto. Therefore, I get no preflash firing, no infared preflash focus assist, etc.

I'm dying on this one. Can't find anything in the manuals(s) to help. Please advise!

You have to change the mode on the flash, not the camera. Turn the flash on then press the MODE button to change from TTL to M to E-TTL. Each time you press the MODE button it will change to the next mode.
