Well, I got my first pictures up at a local cafe. The people that frequent it are mostly middle to upper middle class. The 16x20s cost me about $25 for frame and print, the 11x14s about $13. The cafe is charging me nothing to display or sell there because I know the owner. Right now I'm thinking about $60 for the 16x20s and $30 for the 11x14s. Keep in mind this is a fairly small town and a fairly new restaurant that is out of the element in this town, so it's just gaining popularity. There's work by other artists on display, but none is photography and they cost a great deal more ($600-$2000). Do my prices sound right for this sort of setting?

I think you are too low. It is always easier to come down in price than it is to go up. Even double what you are proposing is lower than what I would sell at. Even small towns can appreciate good work and its residents should be willing to pay accordingly.

Just wanted to relate something from my Psychology 101 class, a tailor put two identical suits in his window one marked $150 the other $250 (this class was a long time ago) he sold twice as many of the higher priced suit. One other marketing technique I learned selling seriographs at art fairs is to sign and number an edition of X prints (no need to print all at once just keep track of the numbers). When a buyer starts to bargain you can offer an unsigned print for less, it is amazing how many times they quit bargaining and pay your price.

I'd charge more than that for just the prints. Double the prices if you're framing them.
