Sheldon and I had a "working lunch" today. Still trying to figure out the work part
This little guy decided he wanted to land with his buddies and no one told him that what he thought was water was really ice

This seagull was flying by and thought it was quite funny...

Another IanD classic!

The gull is an outstanding flight shot! ... they are the best subjects for flight shots!

Great shot Ian. So I had to go back to work and what do you do.... Go home and play with your pictures. Jealousy abounds...

Man, that's a great flight shot, Ian.

The shot of the clumsy duck is good, too. However, I do have one nagging question. What are those birds doing in Canada? Don't they know they're supposed to migrate down south during winter?

Or, does that explain why you've been getting all these "abnormal" bird pictures. The smart one DID fly south already, leaving the no-so smart ones behind for you to photograph!

Leo,
I think you nailed it on the head. These mallards have been around all winter. I think their anti-freeze is down a couple of quarts and their brains have frozen. The funny thing with this shot is that right after he landed, he tried to walk over to the others and was sliding all over the place. Sheldon and I were laughing like fools waqtching him. Sort of looked like he was skating.

I just took another look at the gull picture and I just can't get over how nicely it came out! It must be the engineer in me admiring the "aerodynamic design" of the how the bird is put together to make it float through air the way it does!

Thanks for the compliments folks. As long as there are ducks that are willing to do unnatural things, I'll be out there trying to capture them.
Wait untill the geese show up :!:

I love the slippery landing, great fun shot, maybe a little motion blur on the background would give it that much extra.

Great shot.

Greetings,
Frank

it's very hard to capture all what's going on.... in a photograph.

you are on your way to photographing ' heron's in flight ' after that
