F1 testing Bahrain - Day 3 Part 1

Armed with all the wisdom gleaned from this very forum, I made my foray into the big bad world of Motorsports photography.

For a F1 buff, just being trackside and then in the pits itself was a big big +. To be given the opportunity to photograph was simply out of the world.

Please leave your comments so that I can find the avenues for improvement which, I am sure, are there :D

Hey...tx rich...there are more photos in there now. I have shot close to 700+ pix on 2 days; the trick is now to sort amongst seemingly repetitive ones, work them and upload them :D

Some excellent shots, well done. How did you get access to get the photos? I heard that F1 was a closed shop for photographers, or are you one of the annointed ones?

Nice work indeed. I prefer the second shot with the Honda pitting - I think the above photo caught the flash a bit too hard (hence the glare off anything reflective). Like the pictures in the gallery too!

Observation on the above though, every time I see a Ferrari it doesn't have the Marlboro branding - I thought it was phased out now, or is it from next year? Obviously they can still get away with it in some places. :confused:

This is actually Rubens (Barrichello) :p
I like how a lot of stuff in this shot is blown out (in a good way obviously).

I love the Barrichello shot! Were they sporting the new paintjob yet? Have you seen the "Earth" theme?

the tabacco laws come into effect this year for F1 though at certain venues they are still allowed to run with tabacco livery.

The "Earth" theme is at myearthdream.com and most likely HondaF1.com or something of that sort.

It's not going to be used on the track until Australia because of how long it takes to put onto the car! (they're stickers but it still takes a long time).

Lets say I got lucky ... it was more like; I "conned" a local newspaper in Bahrain into believing that I am a good motorsports photographer (by showing them some F1 pics I had shot last year from the grandstand). Anyways I got some pix for them and they liked the work. Now the trick is to get a raceday pass .... asking for too much perhaps :oops:

@ Scott - You are right mate...indeed the flash was straight on :D ... Re tobacco laws...there is no ban here and hence they can get away with it ;)

@ ajbalazic - Honda were still running in black just with the RayBan logo and it was an incredibly difficult car to photograph
