After getting the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS last week, I got possessed by the evil L spirit today and got the 24-70mm f/2.8L on order from B&H.
I couldn't eat and sleep for the past week and today I finally caved in. I hope this will be the last for a long while, no more L glasses for me until next year, I hope, so if you see me posting and asking about lenses please ignore me. I need help. Any tips on how to break this habit? :? :? :?  :( :(
Regards,
Ferdinand.

Let's start out using FIFO accounting practices - keep the 24-70, and send the 70-200 to me (I already have a 24-70). I promise it will be in good hands. If you get another L lens that I don't have, we will switch to LIFO, and you send me that one. I will keep them safe and hold onto them until you realize that it is time to stop buying L glass that you can't afford. Then after one year I (to make sure you're serious) I will return all your L glass to you. :) :D
Let me know
I'll pay the return shipping

I think the Charm would still be cheaper than shipping em to you
You know I used to game 24/7 online, playing this MMORPG game, kinda like Dungeons and Dragon, and you have to pay a monthly fee of $13 a month, and damn it I quit and took up photography to try and save some money! I was richer playing online games!

Warning!!!
Don't look at these primes 300 2.8L IS, 400 2.8L IS, 500/600 4.0 IS.
I made the mistake (300 2.8 IS), so I might as well drag you with me while you're weak. 8>)
Enjoy your new lens!

Thanks Emil but I think I can definitely resists the call of the L Primus! Zoom-zoom-zoom is for me :) I like the versatility of the zoom.

You have the first order version of L-Glass disease.
The only known cure is to own a complete set of L glass zooms. That would be the 100-400L and the 16-35L. While the 17-40L might satisfy you craving for the wide zoom, you will find that little bit of extra angle with the 16-35L will be needed at some point and lets not forget the extra aperture.
On the long side, well we all know a 70-200 with 2x does not equal a 100-400 straight or even worse a 100-400 with a 1.4x, 2x, or heaven forbid both.
So it is obvious to me that you have at least two more "L" lenses to buy as well as a couple of extenders.
Luckily for you you only have first order, second order is when you sucumb to the "L" primes with lengths above 400mm. And fortunately very few people catch the 3rd order of the disease because even your HMO will have trouble covering that 1200mm lens you would desire.
Be satisfied with only the first order, get the cure as soon as your pocket book can handle it and enjoy the side effects of taking better pictures in the mean time.
Just my attempt at humor,
Ferdinand

Thanks Tim :) great advice but I think I can resists it all :) Happy that I am covered from 24-200 right now and with the 2X extender 24-400.
By the way, how do you go about getting your first model from One Model Place to start a portfolio? Did you have to hire one or were you lucky enough to get a TFP/TFCD deal?

Since this is off topic to this sub-forum I will put a thread on Photography Tips about this.
Give me about 30 minutes and then look there.

Now Ferdinand,
You and I and the rest of the forum know that 24mm just isnt enough. It doesn't matter how much you say "it's enough" we all know that the 16-35 f2.8 is just a phone call away. But wait, is 16mm enough.... there's a 15mm fisheye, or even better a 14mm f2.8 L. And while we are about it, is 400 mm enough, surely the 100-400 IS would be a good investment, stretching you out to 800 with the 2x. depending on which soul stealer you have it could be 1040 or even 1280. 14mm to 1280mm, yum yum yum
Best regards

Don't be too sure you can resist the 'primal 'urge.
Use a 300/2.8 and you may be hooked no matter what you think of your zooms
