Thanks Pekka, but I forgot all my German about 40 years ago.

You don't need to speak German - a picture is worth 1000 words in whatever language you speak!

I read the exif on the sports shot...
ISO 200, 1/6400th at f2.8
That is going to absolutely rock. I can't wait.

Can't argue with the pictures, but I still would like to be able to understand all the comments. I am still trying to decide whether or not to upgrade my d60 to the 10D or this new mark II.

There was one shot that looked particularly noisy - then I noticed that it was shot at ISO 3200!

In his judgement :
Virtually noise-free right up to 800 and barely discernable at 1600
Better battery life
Faster and more accurate AF
The specs haven't changed but these are very nice opinions to hear and see
Bring it on!

Just value how much are there things in Mark II are worth to you in your daily shooting:
- trouble-free flash exposures in any situation
- low noise in all ISO's
- great post-processing latitude (e.g. simple USM sharpening without edge-sharpening tools does not result to artifacts) with ISO 1600, too.
- battery life which holds for days, not hours.
- 45-point fast and intelligent AF
- weather protection
- operational speed
- 8mp
- bigger dynamic range
- reliablilty (rugged construction, double-card system)
- bigger viewfinder
- better WB
- interchangeable focusing screens
- faster image transfers
- larger sensor with smaller crop factor.
- ability to save all settings on flash card and transfer them between cameras
- ability to autofocus at f/8 (300, 400, 500, or 600 f/4 with 2x teleconverter)
- integrated vertical grip
- higher resolution LCD
- free RAW conversion software

I can't say I don't want one, as that would be a lie. But I'm not going to get another camera for a few years - I'm very happy with the 10D. Nevertheless, the 1D Mk II is very, very enticing. It appears to me that it will be an instant hit when it becomes available.
Those of you who have ordered - y'all are going to love it.

Well, now, as long as it was in German, i felt safe. Translated, I'm getting an itch that I cannot afford to scratch. Its a wonderful machine.
Its a home run that Canon just hit.
Excuse me while I go hug my 10D. :)

With the amount of people on this group with one on order, I'm not surprised. The demand is obviously pushing the price up.
It looks like the sales of this camera will be phenominal for a camera of this price, when has a camera worth this sort of money ever had so much demand?
If I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate. The MkII is the sweetest camera released yet, I'd rather own this then the 1Ds.
Imagine for portraits or weddings, sure you don't need that much speed, but who wouldn't like such a fast and responsive camera.
For wildlife you often want fast performance so you don't miss the moment.
Obviously for sports this camera is definately the ****!
For landscapes the 1Ds is still the king. But for most other stuff the MkII is the best camera for the job.
Why does the best have to cost so much?

Hah! I just went back and listened to it. It sounds like a very quiet machine gun! :)
And even with the buffer gets full (don't ask me how that would happen), it still fires in multiple bursts. Incredible!

I hate this thread. Today I put my name on the wait list for the Mark II. I am no. 5 in line. I just couldn't stand it any longer. Pro Photo Supply here in Houston ordered 12, but they have no idea how many they will get or when. The word they have is "any day now".

The translation is far better than Googles,. a MUST read! 8)
Look at the CF card timings... THIS camera is taking fulladvantage of fast cards!
I measured the transfer speed of 3 different CF cards doing continuous shooting and I can state that high-speed cards are substancial for high shooting speed. Time was stopped from shooting of the last frame of on series to expiration of the flashing red LED.

Remeber, the Sandisk ULTRA is Sandisks first generation "fast" card,. the Ultra 2 is faster,. and the Extreme faster still... and yet the now "old" ULTRA is still 3 times faster than "standard"
Much better than the 10% boost you'd get from a 10D
Likewise the Lexar 12X was Lexars first "FAST" card,. now with 30X and 40X cards.. can't wait to see what you get with one of the new top of line cards....
...(anyone want to buy some "standard" CF cards... )

Battery Performance = WOW!
After 6 days and over 2000 images the battery symbol showed half full.
IS lenses couldn't kill the battery, there is no built-in flash, this will be a very hard battery to flatten (Unless you have a steam roller).
