OK, I live in a touristy small town and I have been kicking around the idea of putting together a calendar of local attractions. Getting the shots then getting it laid out is not a problem. Where do I go after that? Has anybody ever self-published a calendar? Do I need an ISBN number for it? Are there any printers you recommend? Any ideas on printing costs? I am not even sure where to start looking. Any pointers?

hmmm...friend of mine did one as a fund-raiser (just the photos) and made a really good chunk of change. I've kicked the idea around a little bit myself and he gave me some links I'll have to go see if I can find :)

I, too, would love to hear who the Blurb of calendar's is. Perhaps we could try a POTN Calendar next? It would be a significant challenge to get one of your shots in that.

I've done calendars for a nonprofit. They are a good fund raiser and I am starting work on next years calendar. We have been using a local printer but I am now looking for a new printer. The previous calendars have been black-and-white and I want to do the next one in color. I did some quick searching around the web and found some pretty good prices.

Locally, maybe. I was thinking more along the lines of the local craft shows/festivals/touristy events. Possibly trying a couple on eBay.
Definately not thinking of anything really big. Just a thought...and tourists here have commented that they can buy shirts, caps, glasses, trinkets and junk but nobody has a calendar.

Don't I know you?
Can you tell me places you have used or know of having a good reputation? I am not having much luck googling "calendar printing" and the like so it is probably just not hitting the right keywords.

Yes, the net can be a small world. ;)
That was pretty much the google search I did. Your pricing comes down with quantity. For example, it my only cost a couple of hundred dollars more to print 500 instead of 250. One thing you want to do is make sure you choose the right number to print. For your first run, you should print a small order. You won't make as much money but you won't be stuck with as many left overs. Calendars have a very limited sale time and their life is pretty much over by February.
Good luck.
