Working in M mode more and more. Is this an essential piece of equipment or do you rely on the meter in the camera?

I use the L358 for important indoor shoots. I have found that I am pretty good at metering out doors, however working indoors with available light is another story. The Sekonic meters are excellent...Dean

You don't need to spend so much money on the 558 as it is aimed more at video/film.
Go for the 358 or even the 308B

I use Luna Pro F and have no complains.

I think you are referring to the L558Cine which is $139 more then the L558. I have the L558 and it is just beautiful. The spot meter has its own digital readout so you don't have to put it down from your eye to check the reading. The Pocket Wizard module fits in the battery compartment so no cords for flash metering. I used the L358 for two years and it works great. The L558 is like the icing on the cake.
