I was lucky enough to get out with Dan (Dancad) and Wayne (Liv2Trip) yesterday morning. They've both posted some great shots. Here are two attempts from me.

The first of the young male turkey. I striking bird in size and plumage but with an un-attractive head.

The second is a flight shot taken of two female mallards with my Bigma handheld. I'm just sorry that I cut the wing tip off the lower bird. I do have a few shots that are sharper than this but it's theonly one with a pair of birds relatively in focus together.

In any event thanks to Wayne and Dan who encouraged me to try some flight with the mallards. :D

Hey cool. I had my meeting with the Wild Turkey at Mud Lake on Sunday. I was able to get to within two feet of it. If you approach correctly you'll be surprised how close it'll let you near it.

Way to go Stephen, I have the Bigma as well. I love the lens, but have noticed some dust inside the lens already. I've had mine for a little over a year now.

Good stuff Stephen! Are you guys sure it's a wild Turkey? Could it have been hand raised or something? You sure don't get to within feet of one around here, at least not for long.

Don I agree this is a great versatile lens even though it's not an "L" lens. My has held up quite well for me so far.

Zip this is definitely a wild turkey and usually they're very wary. This bird however is all alone in an nature area were people walk the trails every day of the year. It's likely seen people every day since it arrived in the area and certainly most are respectful of the wildlife. All I can say is that we took out time and walked with the bird as it foraged and it definitely seemed unconcerned. :D

These are very good Stephen and looking at the females Mallards in-flight, they are indeed in unison. It looks like a mirror image, perfect timing shot.
Good detail on the turkey.
