Meet your photographer for the day. A guy who has no friggin' idea how I managed to score a photo pass. I guess we can chalk that one up to clean living. And also this same guy has little idea how to use his new camera. :lol:

Looks like your a quick study and figured the camera out pretty fast...

NHRA Media passes are HARD to get, most drag racing Media Passes are harder to get for some reason...

Not exatcly. Out of 148 shots, maybe 15 are decent. If I were shooting film I'd be a failure. I know a couple of guys who worked in the custom motorcycle industry that used to shoot a roll of 24 exposure film and get 24 good shots. I aspire to be that good.

You would not believe how easy it was to get this pass. I was amazed. A couple of well placed phone calls and complete honesty regarding my status and rookie abilities yielded me the pass.

BTW CBR929, I'm a rider. I have two Busas and a KTM 640 Adventure. I plan on making it to a few track days and CCS events in the near future.

I think I seen you,I will ahve to look at my pictures. How did you go about getting a pass? Wish I was that close, would have had the shots I wanted for sure. Congrats, I know you had a good time.

Great shot of Mr John Force. That's quite some luck to get a press pass that easily. Maybe I should start making some more phone calls myself.

congrats on gettin press you carnt beat the feeling as a tf passes you by from the press line

the shot for force is the best how ever if you had been 1/2 second later you should of hopefuly got a nice flame lick from the dropped cylinder but that's racing for you only only decads of missed shots give's you the knowledge to for guess that sort of thing

your look a little flat try bending your curve a bit in PS and you should get a lot more pop / power from the image

keep up the good work 6 weeks till the start of our 1/4 mile season

was this just for this event or any NHRA event across the country? Englishtown is an hour from me and would love to go down this summer and get some shots, but will i need a pass at anykind of open drag event?

Its all about the angles from the stands, but I've been able to get some greeat shots without a press pass. The only reason I'd like to have photo access is to get some different angles around all the ESPN equipment and extra speakers/ antennas/ lights that they setup for a national event. But it can be done- you just have to pick your spots- I don't want to hijack thread with my photos.

I grew up right down the street from Englishtown- (let me put it to you this way, if I wasn't there- I _still_ knew they were racing :-) ) The Supernationals is a huge event and depending on your camera and lenses you might get some static from security.

Some tracks I have shot at we not very organized at the gates and I walked *around* the security area wearing my thinktank belt and carrying my big glass. They never even tore my general admission ticket!

I have found photography to be feast or famine at racing facilities of all types. Last year at Atlanta Motor Speedway I had no problems at all until I tried to walk from the front stretch main grandstands to the new ones out by turns 3&4 to chase the light. A woman stopped me and demanded to see a photo pass and made me go back.

I wanted to go nuts, I'm holding a $55 front strech ticket the other grandstands are $20 general admission and there is nobody at the track b/c the weather is cold (and its friday- not raceday). She says to me I should have bought a ticket for the grandstands if thats where I wanted to be. Some days you just shouldn't get out of bed.
