Hello Everyone. Im really glad I found this forum. Just what i was looking for. Anyway, Im brand new to Digital Photography and figuered id share these first few shots fired from my new XTi. Im still learning and admit that these two, even though they came out the best of lot that cold winter afternoon (in Hawaii), they still kinda suck. My battery charged and as soon as it was done i just randomly walked outside and started discovering all the auto settings and stuff on different plants round my yard. When i view it on full screen mode, its not as dark as these resized versions are, the hibiscus things in the middle with pollen on it (stamen? geez bio was 8 years ago.) are pretty neat to stare at, but it was too large to post that way here so..... Anyway, any feedback is good feedback for me.

You need to learn how to interpret the histogram to judge the exposure of your pics. The LCD display can't be trusted, as you have learned :-)
I don't mind the darkness of the background in this particular instance though.

Use Curves in PhotoShop (Ctrl + M) and increase the intensity of that orange, it'll look tons better.

I had a go at it in Photoshop. Hope you don't mind.
I adjusted the levels and bumped up the saturation a little. It took 20 seconds.
