How good would it be to have either sunrise or sunset shots on the same day from all over the country, well here it is, no matter where you are get outside and take a sunrise shot, a sunset shot or both on Sunday the 25th March 07, for Sydney foke it coincides with the meet already planned at 4pm on the same day at the rocks (thread here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=268274)), lets see what the rest of australia looks like at either hour and show off our beautiful country, perhaps the rest of the world could follow suit next time :)

australian sunrise sunset times here http://www.ga.gov.au/geodesy/astro/sunrise.jsp
moonrise and moonset times here http://www.ga.gov.au/geodesy/astro/moonrise.jsp

For Eastern States it looks like sunrise is around 5:50am-6:05am amd Sunset 5:50pm-6:05pm

Count me in. I'll be down Moreton Bay somewhere, there a couple of nice jetties there and Nth Strraddie will work in the background I hope.

Love to be down at the Rocks that afternoon but looks like the only chance I'll have for the sunset shot will be at 30,000 ft on the way to Singapore unless something changes between now and then. Will however keep tabs on the thread in case things change.

I'll be in Muswellbrook that morning and Canberra that evening - and, with the truck, non of it will be at any where near 30,000 feet

Just tell him to meet you at the cemetary near Waverley. Up on the cliffs, overlooking the ocean, one of the best places for a sunrise in Sydney.

There's always a few mad joggers, dog walkers & sometimes the odd "haven't been home yet but still want a drinks" about, but it rarely disappoints. Years ago when I worked in the Eastern Suburbs I'd stop there sometimes on my way home after a night shift for the sunrise just to unwind a little.

Ah well, good old Newey...

Still, if you've a party the night before, you can decide to not go home but go the cliffs in the morning instead :D

Did anyone else go through with this? By chance I was up at Marcoola for the weekend. This was shot from the balcony of the unit we stayed in. Beach front unit on the 5th floor, the views were amazing.:D

Sadly, no

I was up at sparrows to take a picture - but we were all fogged in up in Muswellbrook. I figured there was little point in trying anything so went back to bed.

Good pic, btw.

Damn! Went out cycling and watched the sun come up while I was having a break AND watched someone else in the park photographing it. AND I still forgot. :-(

Too much cloud/rain here.

Not to mention an exhausting day yesterday.

Sorry for my lack of effort everybody. That said, even if I'd made the effort my photos would probably have been miserable ;-)

Great work Greg!

And John, I didn't know you were in the area (ish)! Thought you were in NZ for some reason. Anyway if you're in Newie and want a cuppa, feel free to drop in ;-)

Back from NZ last Wednesday - down to Canberra, picked up the dog and swapped cars, drove up to Muswellbrook, shot a wedding yesterday, drove back to Canberra today, picked up the birds from Carzee... the bugger - my prize winning cockateils and he put them in the freezer for safe-keeping.. had to thaw them out in a hurry when he heard I was back in town.. j/k

Fly off to Sydney in the morning for a week.

i have a very boring shot, but since i am at my mum's, and she has dial-up, and i can't tie up the phone line, it will have to wait. It is only a sunset shot, and not even a sunset as such. Nice shot greg. I think there may be more than one, but his computer is backwards, and it will take another 1/2 hour for anything else to down load, i'll check it out when i get home.
