I haven't posted since football season, so I thought I'd share a few of my son's last game----a regional playoff loss in the final two minutes. C&C always appreciated.
1. This is it, lads. By the way, anyone remember what the coach said?

It was a tough loss, but a good season overall.
Is it too early to start thinking about football?

Good action, looks like you had cycling lights, WB is warm on #1, cool on #4, just right on #3. If you shot RAW, you can tweak it a bit. #4 would have been good in a vertical shot but great face and intensity. To bad for the loss though.

Yeah, Pete. I think it was my PP instead of the cycling lights. I do shoot in raw, but the eye-dropper technique seems to have very mixed results----for me at least. Acutally this was one of the brighter gyms I saw this year, so I can't complain too much about the conditions. In PS Elements, I try to get the WB where it looks right, but it's different on the next image. I think I'm hurting myself in PP by tweaking too much---or maybe not enough. I need to understand the workflow better. What I usually do is WB and exposure in Raw, then usually light levels for contrast, then noise removal, then USM. Does that seem right to anyone who wants to comment?
Regarding the crop, I just crop all of them to a 5x7 ratio after zooming into what I think is the best crop for that size. I used to crop only for the best dramatic effect, but then when a parents wanted a print it was a hassle to go back and resize.
Thanks for the comments.

The work flow sounds fine,I use adobe bridge for RAW then go to photoshop for the rest. I use noise ninja for noise removal and sharpening, I seem to get a better result than USM or Smart Sharpen. It all takes time and practice.

I shoot manual, and use the 85 for basketball. I try to keep the shutter speed at least 500 for the boys games, and adjust the ISO and AP from there. Most of the time it's going to be ISO 1600 and 1.8, although on occasion I can improve on that.
