There nice and bright and you seem to be capturing them well for a night match. however you have made one big mistake... All the action shots that contain NO football should be thrown away.. They are of no use and let the collection down IMHO

I'm with Kipax, if there is no ball in action shots, it finds it's way to the trash can.

how far do you lads crop out to so you can inclued the ball some time i find the ball is just out of shot for the crop i want. would you have a wider crop or scrap the image ?

also what do you think is a normal amount of (images to keep) from a full game and how many shots do you get through in a game. i shoot about 300 images and end up with about 25-30 keepers the rest are descarded for things like the image would want to be croped to much or camera shake action blure also the ball is to far from the action ect.

It really depends on the image, if the ball is a long way away and having a large crop would effect the image then I'll trash it, however if an image works by having a wider or different crop than I'll go with that. I know that's probally not the answer you were looking for, sorry.

The % of keepers is all relative to what you are shooting and who you are shooting for. When I assist with event work I delete only the OOF (out of focus) images and keep the rest, so maybe 85%. For everything else, I take the best 35-40 and process and upload to my website. Maybe 25-35%.

Keepers.. depends what sort of a day I am having.. conditions etc... Also why I am doing it... for example the pictures on my website are NOT meant to be the best or to indicate my skill level... www.kipax.com started life as a poor mans match of the day. I go to games people might not be able to go to and try to reproduce the action and atmosphere.. So I don't do best shots only.. However I do have at least a dozen for the local paper that have to be top end :)
Crop.. Again if important part of the action then I will do a wide crop.. otherwise lose it.. Also I crop all mine to a 7x5.A4 crop and every picture I post on my site will give a good print to a minimum 7x5 but usually a4 min.. This is easy when I am asked for a print :)

thanks lads for your advice it all helps. the last time i did a reserve game the local papers tog gave me some advice he said because of the difference in lighting at the vale from the floodlights he just shoots in manuel mode eg 2.8 at 400 sec at 1600 iso and corrects in photoshop so i gave it a go last night and i think i got better results than normal thats why its so important to to be able to use sites like this because for me in the most part its the only place i can get the advice i need .
thanks again
