Spring 2007 EOS Catalog arrived at my store today...

Well, looks like that's it... Not for sure though. We got a copy of the spring '07 EOS system guide and guess what new DSLR's were inside: 1dMK III, 1Ds MkII, 5D, 30D and XTi, i.e. no other new DSLR's. Nothing else. Interesting enough though, In the removeable pages for the price guide which also included ordering info for Ds MkII, 30D and 5D (2slr's per page is the norm after illustrations.) the price for the MKIII was still listed as TBD which means that they still have to send us a replacement page. Usually consumer/prosumer SLR's are listed in ascending price order after 1D series, so the xti should have been first, but not this time. take from that what you want. Still with the System guide out I'd have to say probably no mo' DSLR this spring, or their undistributed literature will already be out of date.

that was all but guaranteed, no need for a replacement and many other current cams were due before, and have yet to be replaced. Nothing wrong with the current one, so enjoy it ;)

Okay flame me if you must, But except for weather seals what is wrong with the 30D? it's comp, the d200 is nice and all but to me at the end of the day they are pretty much equals. As a matter of fact if al gimmicks and paper tech specs are set aside I believe the 30's IQ is as good if not better (especially at hi ISO) than the other company's camera. The AF is better the frame rate is the same and by god it uses a purpose built chip and a DiGiC image processor instead of an off the shelf sony chip. PLLLLLEEEEASE! IQ of 30d is the true story no matter what tech specs the Nik says it has, plus it's $300 cheaper. If someone out there can show me the "pros" who are abandoning canon for nik or sony I'll change this, and to answer you, yes plenty of people make a very good living with a 30D with out even having to step up to a 1 series camera.

I agree with what you said. The 30D is a great camera because, after all, it was copied from the 20D which is a great camera. There is simply no doubt about it.

I just want the newest technology and won't buy the 30D because it's too close to my 20D. That's why I want the next level. No other reason basically!

history, cameras are announced in the spring and fall, Chuck Westfall has said thats it for spring, so its a waiting game now.

Don't rest on past distinctions. That's where the mighty falls. Right now even the consumer D80 is considered a 30D (prosumer) competitor. in 05/06, the 30d maybe the prosumer type of camera, but its 07 and what it offers is no longer a level up. If u're happy with it, stick to it. But no way if I am in the market for one will want to get it.

once again why blesss the nik for tech specs when 30 is better IQ. D80 is much more similar to XTi than 30D
