im looking to order a ac/dc charger and i was curious to see hwre some of you have bought one from...

i have a G5 so the battery is a BP-511.

any comments on where to go or even NOT to go will be appreciated...

I bought the
Mach 1 Series Universal AC/DC Battery Charger
for 7.2 - 7.4 Lithium-Ion Camcorder Batteries Model LM-MSC1 for $64.87
And I love it. very fast.

Has anyone ever had any issues using the generic non-oem batteries with their camera? I am thinking of picking up two before I go to Copenhagen for 6 months.

eBay has a bunch of the generic ones for ~$10 if you don't mind going that route and also chargers for the cheap.

The ten dollar Ebay batts are a gamble.

It's about 50/50% whether they peform or last as well as name brand batteries without any trouble...

But then there is also a chance that they will arrive either no good,. or operating at a reduced voltage that could conceiveably be bad for the camera.

I would recomend looking at the name barand replacements.. names like "PowerEx, Lenmar, Even Duracell,.. all are well made,. and usually last longer than the Canon batts. Expect to pay $25.00 - $35.000 for a 511 that is a sure thing.

I have the Mach 1 charger, and a duracell battery for a spare
I bought both from curcuit city , the charger is fast and I havent had a problem with it, the battery work well also :D
