“Bush/Blair difficulty in finding new images. World stocks dangerously low. dSLRs blamed”
OK, I added the bit about dSLRs to the recent headline but my research identifies them as the culprit.

Most P&S camera users have only marginally increased the number of shots taken as they move from film but dSLR owners readily admit to capturing hundreds of images at one session. ‘Tis this habit of capturing multiple, gawky, raw, pre-pubescent images which is having disastrous effects on our stocks. An image consultant at a well-known UK store said recently that these days images are just not getting the chance to develop let alone being mounted and it is likely that quotas will have to be introduced. He went on to say that Canon recognised the importance of correct propagation some time ago and introduced Image Stabilization but their efforts have had minimal effect so far.

Although my research has been thorough, it has been inconclusive so far on:

· The long-term effects of ultra-violent light
· The European Grain Mountain

As a community, we need to act now – perhaps you can add to the following suggestions:

· Never use continuous shooting – the totally unnecessary sten gun of the image-capture world

· Never erase images from your card – formatting is quicker and allows a non-fat image to escape just prior to capture of the next. My research shows that wide-angle lenses and lenses with efficient light boogers are better in this respect.

· Boycott all software which has a “delete orphan images” facility – list is available @ http://www.imagesareforlifenotjustforchristmas.co.uk./
