Just wondering, if IS will help you in this situation. When you are buzzing hard, your heart is beating faster and harder, which cause more camera shake. :)

If you can still locate the shutter it could help. I think the best benefit though is the fact that a typical L lens can take out about 10 rednecks with a single swing. Now, that's versatility!

It'll help with the shakes, but when the room starts spinning you're on your own!

Yeah, then you should use a tripod.

It wont help at all!

Because a thief just took advantage of your drunken stupor and made off with your equipment.

No wonder you couldnt find the switch to turn it on!

THREE legs to get in the way? How about a monopod?

Yes, but your breath will corrode some lens coatings. It's also why they don't put eye-controlled focus (ala Elan 7E et al). Canon is having enough trouble with front focus and back focus. Why add left, right, top, and bottom to the equation?

One more reason to get Mark II: if you puke on it it just keeps going :)

Some people just go too far. I'm going to have to report you to the moderator. Er, hang on.

Question is, does the warranty on the weatherproofing for the MkII actually cover vomit ? What about a tumbler of JD ? What about bath water come to that......

Cheers

The benefit of the Mark II is: when you do cover it in your alcohol-induced barf, you can just hose it off afterwards!

It's Image Stabilizer NOT Intoxication Stabilizer !!! Although Canon may currently be working on this "wanted" feature :D

Tokyo newspaper reports : Canon feeds half of Tokyo dead drunk to test new IS2 for its "L"coholic clients

There you are ... welcome back.

How about breath controlled focus? This would be just for aperture control - if the cam senses alcohol, it stops down appropriately, thereby increasing the chances of getting something in focus...

He he he

I understand that you would also use it for white balance. Its sort of like the 3 bleached coffee filters trick.

Do you want IS for your lens or are you spilling too much of your drink?

Drink or drink apart, I think we all need to consider whether is is important. If is is important - so be it. If is isn't important then whether is is need is less clear cut - who's cut?

Yeah, right. But put an EOS 1V HS with 400mm f/2.8 IS around your neck and you will definitely be hung over

I only drink on two occasions. When I am taking pictures or when I am not! I am just about to get a Sigma stabilized lens. Tested one out the other day. It is about the size of a 40 oz so I have lots of practice not letting something that size hit the ground. hic hic
