I have put some of my antarctic pics on the web.
I have been working on an Icebreaker for a while as a navigator and, you guessed it....Icebreaker... yes I drive the thing.
Most of these were actually taken with my old Eos 500 and standard lens and little knowledge. I now have a G2 and little knowledge. Woohoo!
Hope you like them.

My old scanner wasnt the best but I now have a HP which should do a better job. I might try and rescan them one day.

Very impressive.
One Q: the water in Berg13 looks decidedly red, or reddish brown (auburn). There's evidence in other photos from around that image (with the date stamp). Is this an artifact of any color correction you're doing in post-processing? Or is the water really that color--if so why?

A couple of reasons.
1. The vessel I work on has a bright orange hull. The effect this may also be seen in Bird1.
2. I was in the past using AutoLevels in Photoshop, and accepting the outcome. I have since learnt to use Levels and adjust things properly. So, yes, post-processing is partly to blame.
The water in Antarctica is very blue to green normally, of course this changes with temperature, depth, currents, wildlife (krill), lighting etc.
Thanks for your interest. I have many more photos which I shall post later, but today I go to work again for 5 weeks on an ROV Support vessel. See you all then.

Your shots are terrific. Funny thing... I thought less about shoting them with the G2 and more about shooting them with kodachrome. I think that I'd have the slide film handy, and that I might re-shoot using the G2's M settings if the pickins were good.
The ice build up on the boat is scary ! Reminds me of the dangers of crab fishing off Alaska. That can be bad for your health! (Jonathan Raban writes about same in his book. "Passage yo Juneau".)
Am looking forward to more dramatic scenes.
