So you probably think I am talking about the MkIII.

Nah, I am too poor at the moment for that. I did get an incredibly new copy of a Pentax K-1000, the very first SLR camera I ever owned.

I am pretty happy, will probably use it some day to teach my kids or someone else about photography. Have loads of Ilford film, so it will probably be a great way to feel ever so grateful for my Canon Digital EOS Gear.

What was your first SLR Camera and when?... Do you still have it?

My first was the K-1000 in 1992. I had to sell it to pay for the credit on it less than a year later, but just got another copy (call it nostalgia).

What was your first SLR Camera and when?... Do you still have it?... My first SLR was the Canon A-1 with a 50 1.4 lens. Later I added a 75-200 zoom and I still have both the camera and zoom. I use it a couple of times a year just for fun. It was a tank, but a great camera.

My first camera was the Canon T70, but my girfriend (now my better half of 19 years!) had a K1000. What a rugged, dependable camera the Pentax was and still is! I kinda wish we still had it. My old T-70, too.

My first camera was a Canon F-1 (my dad always spent too much!) While it was Canon's top of the line camera with interchangeable focusing screens, interchangeable pentaprisms, etc., it's operation was very similar to the K-1000. Like the original K-1000, it was all mechanical and didn't need a battery to work.

By the way, I feel really old when someone says their first camera was a T-70. The T-70 was introduced in 1984. I got my F-1 in 1977.

CONGRATS

my first was the disposable camera from walgreens used those for about a long time, then moved up to a Polaroid Camera w/Flash.

Then I leaped into a minolta xg and finally decided it was time at 35, I'm 36 now and bought a Canon 30D.

My first SLR was a Ricoh KR-5 that I got for Christmas in 1979! I still have it and 4 lenses, I get great pictures from it! Last year I bought a KR-5 Super off of ebay so I can give each of my girls a good SLR to learn on.

I didn't have an SLR until I went digital, but I did have a Petri 7s rangefinder ages ago :-) I've since picked up a Pentax ME Super + Takkumar 50/1.4, which is a beautiful piece of equipment.

My SLR was a Minolta SRT101 with a MD 50mm f/1.7 lens and a MC 135mm f/3.5 lens I got in 1999 for my senior high school photography class. It's been in the closet since I got my first compact digital camera in 2002. My first DSLR is a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi with the kit lens, which I got in January and cannot put down!
