Hi,
I recently purchased a Canon EOS 400D and contacted canon directly when i thought i had a problem with it. During the conversation they asked me for the serial number which i gave them but they said it should be 10 digits long but mine was only 7 digits? They could not explain to me why this was! only that the camera should have 10 digits and that i should contact my supplier. I did this and was told by the supplier some Canon EOS 400D lens kits have 7 digits and not to worry.
As this contradicts what canon said i am curious as to why they expected 10 digits but my supplier says 7 is normal?
I live in the UK and purchased the camera from a UK supplier.
I have been told that it might be something to do with the country of origin?
I am not worried about it as the camera works perfectly but its bugging me as to why mine only has 7 digits.
Regards,
