Hi
I am a new member. My name is Julie and I am 25 years old. I have been taking snapshots for about 6 years, I got that from my mom. Although I try to refrain from making people pose too much. First I had a regular APS Canon Elph, I was bad about getting the film devolped regularly. Took a batch of about 10 rolls to get devolped and they all came out BLACK! Come to find out the shutter was broken. Lost about a year's worth of photos. I got a RCA CDS6300 for Christmas one year which I liked even though I found out that some no-name company made it and RCA just stuck their name on it. Sometimes it would just quit on me though. I think the batteries would die, and it would not work at all. Just went from full right to dead. Ate batteries like tic-tacs. Then I got a Panansonic DMC-LC33. Its ok for point and shoot. Between this my husband and I also got a Minolta XG-1 and we really became interested in SLR photography. So on 3/14/04 after much oggling at Wolf, we got the Canon 300D. (Which the salesman didn't even know was called a 300D. Thought it was just the Canon Digital rebel.) I want to take real pictures not snapshots:) I have a few good ones and would like to start a gallery but do not know how. Even my mom was impressed with the ones she has seen. Which is not bragging, just better than our usual snapshots. ANYWAYS
So that is how I have made my way here. I hope that I will not tire everyone out with relentless questioning. I have been browsing this forum but it is so huge! I am sure I'll asl duplicated questions...but my first one is....
Are DUCKS good or evil around here???:)
Thanks you guys for making this place.

Hey Julie... I upgraded from a G3 to the 300D last week and I'm finding that buying the Camera was just the beginning. I now have three new lenses and plan on doing a bit more accessory shopping tomorrow (I need a bigger bag and a new tripod).
I am still "learning" this camera and probably will be for a while. I suggest you read EVERY post in this forum and take as many pictures as you can.
Looking forward to seeing your photos.

That was the best intro. Welcome. Post some pics when you can. Ducks are generally good to eat, tho the ones around here are suspect (but nevertheless not evil).

Julie:
At my age, any attention from a 25-year old female is appreciated, even even if it's only relentless questioning about digital photography. Bring 'em on!
BTW, you've had the good fortune to find your way into the best forum for your purposes anywhere on the net. This is the friendliest, most tolerant group you're ever likely to find.
Ducks are very important in this forum. Your best bet for peer recognition is to get a picture of a duck cleaning its navel. (Do ducks have navels?) Anyway, that seems to excite our Canadian members.

Julie,
You know that if you cull this forum, there is an absolutely awesome amout of info to be found! Even in the week of my holiday to Ireland there is even more info just flowing out there.
Enjoy this one and we're a good lot of people so come and enjoy the fun!
I have Canon EOS 10D w/ 4327 pics as of yesterday.
Just for reference, those that saw the moon pic in Sept, 03 that was 1032.

Yeah new accessories...today we went and got a quantaray 70-300 zoom lens at Wolf.. Hopefully that and the kit lens will hold me for a while! We went to Stone Mountain today so I'll have to see how those went with the new lens. Havent even loaded the pics onto my computer yet.
I'll post some as soon as I figure out how.

I just got my digital Rebel Thursday in the mail from B&H Photo. I have ALOT to learn, but went out with it yesterday and LOVED it. I couldn't believe the clarity of photos when looking at them at 100% in photoshop, just amazing. Went out today and bought a Quantaray shoe mount flash, not top of the line, but decent for my purposes. Just started playing around with it when I got it home, an amazing difference with it compared to the pop-up flash on the camera. Good luck!

Hey isn't it good when someone says your photo's are great!
And even better when you know they aren't just being nice!!
And (in my case) even better when you can see lots of small faults in your pics-but know how to not do them next time!!!

Welcome aboard Julie. You will have fun here.
Ducks is a good thing. So are geese, deer, justabirds and anything else you can photograph. Never be shy in asking questions. Someone will always do their best to reply.
I must be off to find a goose.

This is a good forum with loads of great information. You will learn alot here and enjoy it. This is a nice group of people. On some of the other forums, the photographers are exceptionally good, but they can be a little on the pretentious side... Welcome.
