The first one would probably be better in black and white or sepia to be honest. The lighting in the second one is really nice again for me I think she needs to be more pregnant looking sliding the pants down further and the shirt up higher would help I think.

I don't feel qualified to judge photos of pregnant ladies, but I will say that I like the second shot better than the first for these reasons:

- First shot has too much color contrast which gives all of the flesh tones a look of extreme variations in tone and hue. The monochrome eliminates that problem almost completely.

- The color shot doesn't have enough of the subject, in my opinion, but the heart shaped outline of the hands is noticeable and helps convey the "love" message. Unfortunately, it doesn't hit you at first look.

Although I like the monochrome better, I would prefer to see less of a tonal merger between the background and her hair and her pants. The subject gets lost in the background in several areas. Lighting is everything, and it is good here but could be better. The lighting must do the separation of the subject from the background and set the mood and emphasize the contours of the subject's figure - not an easy task.

Regarding her Belly size- she is just around 24 weeks here. We are doing a session monthly to watch her belly grow. She is quite a fit mom, but I imagine her belly will continue to grow!:)
