On the first the fronds on the lower left are mostout of focus. Perhaps moving the subject lower and to the left would have helped get less of the out-of-focus fronds out of the picture. The background is a little busy.
The second is very nice. Can't think of any way to improve that one.
On the last one the front edge closest flower is very out of focus - alas, my eye is drawn exactly to that area. Perhaps focusing more on the rear flower would make the front one completely out of focus, or maybe the other way around. Move the frame to the right a bit may help also - get the rock more in the frame, while removing the unopened bud.

They are nice. I don't think you have to worry about anythink in these photos. It's just you :D You and your style.
Keep shooting!

thanks scottes and ecobo!
i like the middle ground being in focus with the front and back being out. this is a stylistic thing, i'm sure. is it generally considered "bad" to do this?

The only thing that bothers me is the image seems to be really "busy". IMHO the primary point seems to get lost in the background lines and colors, at least in the first two.
The third one reminds me I'll be mowing my lawn soon. :P 8)
thanks for posting

Hell no. It's your style. You make it work and that's that.

I agree with I think it is "manncer" the backgrounds are generally too busy and therefore distract somewhat from the images. For me this is especially true in the first photo.
The colors in the second are beautiful as well as interesting flowers in general so it is my favorite of the three.

great pics.
The first one doestn do anything for me.
The second is aweseome. If the clouds were bluer, the pink would stand out perfectly. A polarizer might help, to saturate the scene more.
the last one, is very good.

i think another angle would help the first one, get the needles in the background out. i want to go back to that tree - i really liked it. it's on the edge of an old cemetary - lots of possiblities there.
#2 - i can pop out the backgound in photoshop - i don't have the lens adapter for the s50, so i can't use a polarizer.
thanks for all of the comments!
