Where do you buy your memory?

gonna pick up some 2GB memory cards and I have found different places that sell "inexpensive" memory.

Im not going to buy "cheap" and Im also worried about fakes too.

Where do you get yours at and where are some deals I can get at the moment!

My last two cards came directly from Sandisk. Otherwise, Staples, Costco, etc. Whomever has the best deals going.

Has anyone ever used "Transcend" CF Memory?

They always are "cheap" Priced online everywhere I go but Im just worried Im gonna lose some vital shots If I purchase them.

They are some of the fastest though 120x speed.

Well the ones that I see being sold are stating they are 120x speed. That is twice the speed of the Sandisk Ultra II series cards. If that's true then they are a steal considering they are priced at about $25-30 for a 2GB.

My Transcend 1gb 80x has served me well over the past few months, and plan on buying more.

The one thing that people don't understand is that if they crack open the cards, and look at the actual memory chips, chances are the ones in the "cheap" brands are the exact same chips being used in the "high-end" brands. Samsung, Hynnix, etc.. there are only a few flash memory manufacturers. Card makers just stick them on a PCB board, slap a label on them.

There are some unscrupulous manufacturers out there that re-package chips, and engineer cards to push them beyond their rated capacities or speeds, at the cost of longevity. That sucks, but those cards are the "too-good-to-be-true" deals on ebay and other places. Just be careful, and you can get a great card from an off-brand.

EDIT: Also, I buy my memory from Tigerdirect.

I've been using a 4GB Transcend 120X CF card with my XT since August and haven't had a single problem. According to some reviewers on Amazon, it is actually slower than 120X but I haven't bothered checking this since its plenty fast enough shooting in burst mode or downloading to the PC.

New Egg and Fry's where they're having a sale. My last card (a Lexar Pro 2G 133X) was cheaper than all other options from Adorama since I was buying some other stuff and shipping didn't come into play.

Go to Costco for 2GB compact flash regular $44.00 and they have a coupon right now untill March 18, 2007 for $15.00 off coupon, each of them came out to be $30.00. I bought two 2 GB cards. GREAT DEAL.
