Welcome St-Craft! Absolutely love #2! The 'movement' of the coral and postion of the fish work well for my eye. Nice job...
Can't help on the additional challenges of shooting through more glass into a tank.
I'm sure a tripod would help, but I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve. Most people here seem to not use one as the critters and narrow depth of field make it challenging to set up a tripod quickly.
But with an aquarium you have captive subjects so setting up a tripod could be an effective tool.
Have you search the forum for aquarium shooting techniques?
Again, great first round of shots!

All i know when you shoot in aquarium its
1) White balance - I did, but every time i used the white balance the color is so bad... well i mean its not the real color
2) Put the lense on the glass - My problem is i got a bow front, so some time on corner its hard
3) Turn off the pump - I didn't, i try to take fast speed subject
4) Clean the glasses :p

When I travel to the aquarium in our city I put on the cheap rubber hoods that you can purchase at any camera store. They let me press my lens up against the glass (as already mentioned) but without worry about scratching the aquarium glass (probably many a thousand of dollars) or even worse, my precious lens filter ring!

Really like the shots, only thing I can recommend is to diffuse the flash coming off your flash unit. At least with a handkerchief to give it a little softness.

Do i need to buy different Rubber hood for every lens ?
For the flash i can put my flash -2 to 2+. Its a good idea for the handkerchief !

Well let's try a "artist" picture....
I know the blur is big, and nothing realy sharp on it... Do you have a trick even with a tripod and remote to have a ********** sharp shot ?

I have a rubber hood for my largest lens and then misc. step down rings for my smaller lenses. I only really use the hood for my 24-70mm lens since its relatively fast and macro as well. I'm sure you'll quickly find a lens you prefer for these shots.

I like the last shot, the green one. There are tons of diffusers for flashes from the lightsphere to stofen devices to blow up 'softboxes'. Or if you are using on-camera flash a lot of people talk about success modifying a ping pong ball to fit the flash. The more area that the light comes from the better and softer.

HAha that so cool the idea of the ping pong !

Nice shots to start off with, regarding the halo- flash may have been to harsh and blew out the whites, or the pic been p and p to much and cropped to much which will make it more visible , have not had any experience taking photos of fish behind glass so just guessing.

Wonderful series of shots. The fringing on the aquarium lens is cause by the glass front- it can be minimised by shooting directly at right angles to the glass but you then need to watch the flash relection.

Yeah... one of my probleme is i have a aquarium bow front (gnnn)
So is a bit harder to take photo.

The other probleme is with the lense 75-300 and all the ring... i don't have light comming in the lense and its realy hard to focus something.

Sometime i just can't focus at all !
Even in my view-the-thing-to-view-in-camera its not sharp :(

Think im realy going to buy a macro ;)

and other problem, i don't have such thing to photograph in my aquarium...lol
