This is nothing more than another survey. I wouldn't put this info in a survey, so I absolutely wouldn't here no matter how anonymous it is.

Thats your opinion, some people are more sensative to that then others. In my opinion the only people i wouldnt want to share that inofrmation with are the people i work with. But like i said, it's your opinion, and as such your entitled not to reply...(yet you did).

I was in a hurry and was ironicly on my way to work, i must have just seen the G in gallery and thought it was the G in gen chat .
The only reason i ask is because i'm 18 and about to enter college and i quickly see my job which i have now pretty much simply for hobbies, becoming something that isnt there to fill my fun time but rather to continue my well being, education, food, etc.
I know wha ti want to do with my life and the income is rather tiny, but i also have an expensive group of hobbies and i'm just wondering how some of you guys make out. Based on some assumptions i've made based purly on pictures i've seen of homes/cars etc...quiet a few of you are well...pretty well off.

My income varies too much to cast a vote and it is largely dependent on the US$ to UK£ extortion rate. It has been up to $1.96 and down to $1.26 to the UK£. It is currently sitting on about $1.87 to £1 today 28 Mar 04, heading into 29 Mar 04.

CDS must be the one making the 200K+ since he's always got the latest gear. Hmmm....

For all of last year I got paid not one US dollar... Zero, nada, zippo, none at all...
But I did however get nicely paid in Canadian funds. 8) Which works out fine for me since I live in Canada... (yeah!)

Timmy:
Although my income is adequate, the 'vast' amount of money I've spent in the last year comes from money generated when I sold off my model railroad collection after a lifetime of collecting. Some of the pieces in that collection were worth quite a bit of money, so the expenditure in camera equipment has not yet impacted my disposable income or my savings account. For that reason, I chose not to answer your poll---not because it isn't your business, but beacause it isn't relevant to the question you've asked.

I fall neatly in the $0-$10,000 range. :D
The distribution seems about correct. You would expect the majority of this board's contributors to be making 30-80K. Anyone making less would probably not be into this hobby (or be into it as much). Anyone making more would be too busy working, and would not be wasting their time being a top contributor.
So the lesson is: If you are top contributor to this site, you must be pretty poor.

Photography is my hobby, as everyone knows by now hobbies cost $$$ no matter where you live. Should of seen me 8 years ago when I got heavy into Bass fishing and Big Game hunting, Whew If I could retreive the cash I spent on that I'm sure I would have a 1ds by now. But I do have a good full time job & only one kid left @ home to spoil so I'm able to splurge some $$$ on myself.
It was just the end of last year I was told by an instructor to market my talents to generate what I call disposable income. Overall it's always better to work with what you have and grow from there. I've seen alot of folks spend top dollar & can't or don't know how to use the manual settings.
I'm also amazed about how much money people say they have spent from month to month but then I'm one of them good thing my wife does not see my credit card statements. 8)
By the way saving for the next big purchase this fall when Canon releases their next DSLR priced from $1500.00 to $3000.00
I hope :!:
