Today I took some pictures at the local church. I'm not sure how I feel about this photo. I'd like it to be darker and more contrasty. Thoughts?

i hope you like it. not that the original wasnt good just a little too bright and flat.
used a photo filter on it to give it that sepia look. duplicate layer then gausian blur on new layer then selected overlay and also throw in my own sky as the original was plain white.
you may not like it but i thought i give it a wee try anyways :D

How did you get the sepia tone?

I do like it by the way. I'm trying to reproduce it in Photoshop and it's not happening as well as yours. I'm blowing a lot of areas out and losing some of the detail with the blur. It'll take some experimentation.

befor applying the sepia tone. use the shadow/highlight tool and mess about with that, that should stop things from blowing out.
for sepia tone go to adjustments then photo filter.

Nice edit! I don't care for the boarder much but the sephia conversion looks killer.

Not as good as the sepia above maybe but I figured I'd give it a shot.

2 tries for the price of one. I am from Mundelein, so i spent a couple extraminutes for a neighbor.:D

I do prefer the posts after further PP. But rest assured they would not have worked if the basic composition was not right. Well done, and practice those PP skills.

Yes, I'm liking everyone else's responses more than my initial post. They address the deficiencies the photo had but I didn't know how to make up for. But thanks for the reassurance nwa2 :)
