Speedlite 540 EZ with EOS D60

I'm planning to buy a second hand Speedlite 540 EZ, which I understand is now obsolete. Does anybody know if it will work well with my EOS D60?

AFAIK It won't work with TTL mode, so you will only get the manual flash mode if it will even fire at all!
I would suggest trying to pick up one of the more recent ETTL flashguns unless you are happy working with just manual flash mode.

Richard is correct. If you want a Canon speedlight, only the EX series is compatible with ETTL. Canon digital cameras can use flash in ETTL or manual or Auto(flash contolled by its own thyristor), not ATTL or TTL. An EZ series flash will only work in Manual.
