I am going to NYC this week and it's my first time there. I just recently bought a timer remote and I have been experimenting with timelapse and wanted do some while I am in NY. Anyone got suggestions for spots where it might be good to shoot some timelapse there? I was thinking busy intersections, subways, etc... keep in mind that I need to find places where I can actually set up a tripod and sit there for a little while, not so easy to find places like this in NY I am guessing.
Cheers!

not sure if your allowed to walk on it or not. but the ramp that leads o the roadway around grand central goes over 42nd street. if there is a sidewalk could make for a good time lapse photo.
other then that i dont know of many overpasses in manhattan. subways may be trickier, not supposed to use tripods if i remember right.

Just FYI, I remember hearing not to long ago that you will need to get a permit to have a tripod on the streets of NYC. Someone on here got into trouble with the cops for not having one. Nothing bad happened, they were just told that if they didn't have the permit then they weren't going to be able to use the tripod.

You do need a permit to use a tripod. Very easy to get and free. Here's a link.
Still photography permit (http://www.nyc.gov/html/film/html/permits/still_photography.shtml).
I would try and get access to rooftops of buildings on busy intersections. Sometimes you can just walk up the steps to the top. Just act like to belong there. ;)
