Carnaval

[Helenica]

Carnaval is Holland is neither the elegant Venetian affair, nor is it the extravagant Rio party. It tends to be a more a ludicrous - fun event (with lots of drink) which is taken extremely seriously in the predominantly Catholic South. Here are some pictures of the "parade" in my home town.

Normally I tend to use low key frames, but for this series I thought ( considering the subject matter) that I should be able to get away with something more over the top.

Cursed with gloomy weather describes it better. I had to resort to ISO 800 to keep the exposure times near to reasonable.;)
