How do I post photos from flickr?

I have photos on Flickr and would like to share them. However, when I cut and paste the address I get an invalid file error message. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure that the link that you are posting ends in ".jpg" and that you are inserting the link using the "insert picture" button on the new post screen. That puts the proper image tags around your link so that the photo will show up as a photo in your post rather than a link to the photo.

I think I'm right in saying that the vB Code used for images/URLs on this forum is the same as UBB code, in which case use this:

Created by a member of ArsTechnica (I believe) it turns a Flickr link into something these forums will understand, allowing you to post the image and the link back to Flickr as per their terms and conditions

From your flickr photo page, click the "All sizes" button, then click the size of the image you want to paste. Copy the text in the box directly under where it says "1. Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage:" (it already selects it all for you.) Then go to your thread on POTN, click the "Insert link" button and paste in the text.

The only problem with this is that (for me, at least) it always pastes in two copies of the picture - just delete the first one before hitting the submit button.

I'm having trouble posting pics from flickr. All I seem to get is a little white box with an x in it.

the URL is http://www.flickr.com/photos/44071788@N05/4883234165/ but I cant seem to generate a URL with a jpg extension.

Any suggestions?

I just double-clicked on your pic, then right-clicked, chose the size, copied the URL, then used the "insert image" icon in the Reply to Thread toolbar, and pasted it there.

what am I doing wrong? You're using the URL from the top of the Flickr page showing your image, not the URL of the image itself.
This is what I pasted into the "insert image" box. I think.

Okay, click the link above (the one you tried using). From that page, choose the size you want. Right click on it (the picture), go to "properties", and copy the URL. Paste it in the "insert image" box.
