Just bought a 10D and I noticed that what I have framed on the camera viewfinder is not exactly how it turns out when I view it on the LCD screen or computer. The side edge includes a small area which I did not see on the viewfinder. I asked the salesperson and he said that is an acceptable problem with 10D, and to overcome this I need to get a more expensive Pro camera. . Is this correct?

Ben,
The viewfinder in the 10D has a 95% vertical and horizontal coverage compared to the actual image. I don't know if I'd call it a problem, it's just something you need to get used to. The 1D MarkII does have an approximate 100% horizontal and vertical coverage through the viewfinder, however there is a $3000 price difference between the Mark2 and the 10D.
Out of all the reasons I want to upgrade to the Mark2 from the 10D, the aspect ratio of the viewfinder is at the bottom of my list :D

Thanks for confirming the situation. I just have to learn to work around it.

I would say that its considerably better than having a viewfinder that shows more than what you will get in the image.
