Hi has anyone tried out the 500D closeup filter on the Canon powershot Pro1 as yet?
I am curious to know if there is any improvements over the Macro settings on the Pro1.
I read on the Manual that the Lens adaptor is required with the 500D, so I am particulartly keen on hearing from anyone with this setup.

I'm trying to get my hands on the adaptor. Haven't found it available yet. In the meantime, the macro and super macro modes are pretty amazing.

Saw your enquiry over at Fred Miranda's too. The only place I have seen saying it was in stoch was B&H in New York.
I want to try the adaptor with the TC-DC58N and the 250D before buying the TC-DC58C, as I already have them. There should be no problem with the 250D, though you never know, but the N will probably give CA, be a miss-match in some way, though it would stretch the 200mm to 350mm which is interesting. Also curious whether my reverse lens macro will work with it.

Hi John.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know how your tests go.
The store I purchased my Pro1 sugested to look into the 250D. I think at this stage I will get the 500D because it will match up with my Canon 100-300mm L lens.

John,
Is that the typical problem with "mismatched" teleconverters? I ask b/c I have the Oly TCON 17 that I would like to use with the Pro1 IF I upgrade.

Lenses generally need to be matched, though sometimes lenses not intentionally matched may work with each other or partially work, for example with 8MP you might be able to happily crop the edges and have a good middle. On the other hand, as with the G2 TC on the G5, CA was excessive.
I believe the TCON is 52 mm, so you will most likely have substantial vignetting.
Three local shops I visited ordered the LA-DC58C and TC-DC58A and I will be able to test them in all combinations as soon as one comes in, though I'm not holding my breath. Canon deliveries usually come in waves with long calms between them.

The Tcon is 55mm so there may be some vignetting but I can live with that. I am hoping that the relative high quality of the glass might not lead to major CA problems but I guess we will see. The TCON works great with my G3. Maybe if my local shop gets a Pro1 in I can test the TCON. Thanks for your input.

...the other thing that has occured to me is that perhaps Canon have upped the TC quality of the TC-DC58A to keep up with the Pro 1 "L" lens quality, which would certainly be wlecome.
