The Lost Shoe

I captured this today whilst walking along the beach at South Queensferry (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&z=14&ll=56.000589,-3.381557&spn=0.031389,0.080338&om=1). Why was it washed up on the shore? Who owned it? Did the owner commit suicide from the Forth Road Bridge (as happens frequently)? Many questions ran through my mind...
