Challenge #1 - Light
Well I'm here to kick off a fun side to the EOS world! We're starting off with something relatively general - Light! Bulbs, flashlights, the sun, whatever signifies the term "Light." Have fun with it and don't be afraid to get creative!

Shouldn't this be in the pix section not in the lens area?

Camera: Digital Rebel (300D)
EXIF:
Aperture - f/4.5
ISO 1600
Shutter Speed 1/30 sec
This photo was taken from a van in traffic in Reynosa, Mexico. There was a shack with a bright white light beside the front door. I stepped up my ISO and snapped this shot. I like it because of the purity of the light in the dirty darkness of the Mexican night...

august23,
I ran into this challenge by it showing on the Canon EF and EF-S lenses (http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33) forum. But thought why not give it a go, so here is my attempt I did today to meet your challenge #1 Light :)
This photo was made using a laser beam (and no looking through the viewfinder) and a dim lighted room. Laser was just aimed into the lens at its closest focus point on its smallest available aperture f/16. I manually set the White Balance and it was shot as Jpeg. Oh, and I used a tripod :)
Here are the photo specs:
Camera - Canon EOS 10D
Film / Media - SanDisk Ultra II 512mb
Lens - Industar 50-2 f/3.5
Shooting Mode - Manual
Tv( Shutter Speed ) - 1/15
Av( Aperture Value ) - 16
Metering Mode - Partial
ISO Speed - 100
Focal Length - 50 mm
Flash - Off
White Balance - 2800K
AF Mode - Manual
Color Space - sRGB

Results are in! Of the very few contestants, I have to say I found all of them VERY unique. You're being criticized here by a complete noob to photography, but hey, this is how we grow and learn together.
purelithium - I love the idea, and you pulled it off pretty nicely. The one spot of light on the shack is interesting, however the complete darkness surrounding it adds a creepy atmosphere. Great job!
unafaxer - Not quite sure how you got such a beautiful photo, but this picture really amazes me. I'm very impressed with the subject of light in this one.
John_B - amazing creativity. Basically painting a picture with a laser pointer. I'm extremely impressed with this one. Awesome job.
lhoney2 - another great photo. I like how the bowling alley is basically "painted" with light. I hope he got a strike! I really love the composition. Only thing I didn't like was the slightly blown out lane on the left.
flywing - certainly an interesting effect. Would love to hear how you achieved this. I didn't really get a "light" feel from this one, but it's certainly a very interesting shot. I think what turned me off about it was the blown out center, but then again, I think it could also be seen as a creative aspect.
burntbizzkit - i love this shot. very creative. I love everything about it. The light from the window casting onto the grass, the guy posing in the center, everything. Great shot.
steve535 - Very nice attempt. You certainly got the "light" subject captured nicely, however there is a significant amount of chromatic abberation in the candle light. Overall it's a very nice picture though.
And now the winners!
1st place - John_B. This picture was incredibly creative. I love the "painting" you did using a digital camera and a cameras best friend - light.
2nd place - burntbizzkit. There's so much creativity here, and the shot is completely extremely well. Great job.
3rd place - lhoney2. Great composition, great capture of the subject of "light." Great shot.
Thank you everyone for participating! I hope you all help continue this speed challenge for DSLR EOS cameras! Just keep taking great pictures and if a subject for a speed challenge comes along that interests you, make sure you participate!
John_B, the next challenge subject is on you. Good luck!
