Playing with my new EF 50 f/1.8 I took this of my daughter. What's good about & what's not?

I've already fallen in love with this lens - got to watch DOF though!
Thanks

Could you post the EXIF please?

Although I used the 50mm, this is more like 100mm as she is leaning on my Sons shoulders and he was in the shot as well. Sadly he pulled a face at just the wrong moment and has been cropped out!
I used AV mode to get control of DOF, my first attempts with this lens at f/1.8 had such a narrow DOF parts of the face were a bit soft.
The 1600ISO was photographer error. I should haave read the Top Tips thread in the EOS digital Cameras forum - I'd been shooting IR tests with the new len in the garden just before and hadn't re-set it :-( Luckily Noise Ninja came to the rescue (and did a wonderful job).

Very nice
If I was being VERY picky I would say the whites are a little blown and the catchlights in the corners of her eyes are a little distracting but that is being very picky indeed. I would be pleased with it.

I'll tell ya whats wrong with it, her right eye...it looks all noisy.
I like the picture its self though, she's cute.
I'm just wondering why you find the need to shoot at ISO 1600 with such a fast lens?

1600 ISO: See above.
I forgot to re-set it after shooting some IR tests a few minutes earlier. This was a recovery job as when I got her to sit again I couldn't reproduce her expresion :-(
Hence the noise - and if you think this is bad you should have seen it pre Noise Ninja

Beautiful!
One thing I would do is add a "little" warmth with a duotone process.
If you have photoshop, select Image>Mode>Duotone.
Select load and pick one you like.
I tried and really liked the preset>duotones>duotones>pantone(r) duotones> and select one of the 478 brown or brown 464 duotones.

Very nice though! And isn't noise ninja nice? Especially when it helps you save once in a lifetime shots like that.
